Employment Law and Legislative Update: What to Expect in 2023 and Beyond
Attendees will learn about legislative efforts in the current session that'll likely have significant impacts upon employers, employees, and/or the world of work. Additionally, attendees will learn about long-term legislative issues that'll likely have similar impacts but will take more than one legislative session to come into effect. Finally, attendees will hear about the various policy imperatives that form the underlying foundation for all of these actual and potential legislative initiatives.

Jim Banks Jr.
General Counsel at SHRM
Mr. Banks is the General Counsel for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). As General Counsel, Mr. Banks manages the legal function of SHRM, oversees the work of outside counsel, and serves as key lawyer and legal advisor on major business transactions. Mr. Banks previously served as the City Attorney for Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Banks began the practice of law in Richmond, VA and worked in the private sector in a variety of law firms and in the public sector in a number of capacities, including prosecutor and judge. Mr. Banks has a broad background in legal ethics. He served for over ten years in the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary system, including seven years on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board where he served as Chair. He also served as an instructor in the Virginia State Bar Professionalism Course and has taught frequently on the topic of ethics and professionalism.
